After attending every single one of my classes since the beggining of my course, I allowed myself a little vacation in Canada. It was the occasion to visit my friend, Marion, who lives has lived there for a few years now. After a 17-hour trip and a good night’s sleep, I went into the city to discover as much as I could. On the first day, I started with the Gay Village, on the Rue Sainte-Catherine. It’s the street with all the little balls in the air. They put them during the summer and they’re usually all pink but this year they had them the colors of the gay flag. Along the street, you can find bars, restaurants, clubs and other shops. Then I went to the Parc La Fontaine, which was really pretty. I ate lunch in Chinatown (the enormous bowl of noodle with pork) and saw super cute food ahah People were also doing yoga and meditation outside. I also walked by some basilicas and came back home by the other side of the Rue Sainte-Catherine, which is full of shops.
As you can see, there is also a lot of street art which gives a creative aspect to the city. You see quickly that culture is important and that’s cool. People are super nice as well. They actually always use the « informal you » instead of the « formal you » in shops or restaurants for example, And the funny thing was that I heard some people on the street, I knew they were speaking French but I couldn’t understand a word ahahah!
Comme j’avais raté aucun cours depuis le début de mon cursus, je me suis permise une petite semaine de vacances au Canada. C’était l’occasion d’aller rendre visite à une amie, Marion, qui vit là-bas depuis quelques années déjà. Après un voyage de 17 heures et une bonne nuit de sommeil, je suis partie à l’aventure pour en découvrir le plus possible sur la ville. Le premier jour, j’ai commencé par le Village gai, sur la Rue Sainte-Catherine. C’est la rue avec les petites boules dans les airs. Normalement, elles sont toutes roses, mais cette année ils les ont mises aux couleurs du drapeau gay. Le long de la rue, on peut trouver des bars, restos, clubs,… Ensuite, je me suis baladée dans le Parc La Fontaine qui était vraiment chou. A midi, j’ai mangé à Chinatown (l’énorme bol de nouilles avec du porc) et j’ai vu de la nourriture super mignonne ahaha Il y avait aussi des gens qui faisaient du yoga et de la méditation dehors. J’ai aussi passé dans quelques basiliques et je suis rentrée à la maison par l’autre côté de la Rue Sainte-Catherine qui est bondé de magasins.
Comme vous pouvez le voir, il y a aussi beaucoup de street art ce qui donne un aspect créatif à la ville. On voit tout de suite que la culture est importante et c’est plutôt cool. Les gens sont également hyper sympas. Dans les magasins ou bars, par exemple, on va vous tutoyer. Et le truc marrant c’est que dans la rue, j’entendais les gens, je savais qu’ils parlaient français, mais je comprenais rien ahahah !
