150. That’s the number of days I’ve waited for this concert. So I let imagine how I panicked when I read comments of people saying that the show would probably be cancelled or postponed due to the snow storm. You can ask my friends, I was getting crazy ahaha! But then the Verizon Center twitted that the show was going on as scheduled and I calmed down. Anyway, no need to explain that I was SUPER EXCITED uhuh. Once I got there, my first surprise was the configuration of the room. The floor was separated in two; half stanting, half sitting. My second surprise was that the pit was then half empty and that the crowd was soooo disciplined, they barely moshed or even moved 😯 It was very confusing..
But let’s get to the main point.
Oh, by the way, look at my happy face with my new Green Day t-shirt that says « MAR 13 – Washington, Disctrict of Columbia » eheh
The night started with Against Me! I can’t say they were bad but I don’t really get into their songs. But it was totally fine as an opening act. Then Bohemian Rhapsody started and we all knew we were in. The next song was Blitzkrieg Bop and the Drunk Bunny came to dance on stage ❤😂 That ment we had to wait just one more song, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. And then… Well, it was crazy, insane, awesome, I don’t even know. Billie Joe, Mike and Tré arrived on stage and I seriously cried during almost the first hour of the show. The setlist was just amazing: the best songs from Revolution Radio, and a perfect mix of American Idiot and 90’s songs. The band’s energy was incredible, so much happiness emanates from them. Billie Joe is constantly looking for eye contact with the crowd, invites people to sing or play the guitar with him, throws t-shirts with his t-shirts gun, and he never stops smiling.
But above all, what I retain from last night is how inspiring the band, and espacially Billie Joe, is. Green Day is the first rock band I ever listened to by myself. I still remember the first time I saw the music video of Boulevard Of Broken Dreams on MTV, in 2004. It’s one one the bands that made me want to star playing the guitar, and the first song I ever played in public was one of their songs. But now that I grew up, and that my level of English is higher, I realized how inspiring Billie Joe is as a songwriter. I understood some subtleties in his lyrics that I had just skipped until now and I was like « OMG this is si powerful! » The speeches he gave yesterday about the situation in the US and in the world were just amazing. Of course, he screamed « Fuck Donald Trump! » in the middle of American Idiot, but instead of that, it wasn’t about criticizing the system, or Trump, or the Republicans or whatever. It didn’t even feel like a protest actually, it was just positive words that, associated to the lyrics, make you think of what you could do to change things, because we can chose. For me, those 2h30 were more powerful than all the protests I saw here since September.
I simply remembered how much Green Day are important to me ❤

150. C’est le nombre de jours que j’ai attendu pour ce concert. Du coup, je vous laisse imaginer comme j’ai paniqué hier matin en lisant des commentaires sur les réseaux disant que le concert allait sûrement être annulé ou repoussé à cause de la tempête de neige. Vous pouvez demander à mes potes, j’étais en train de péter les plombs ahaha ! Mais bon, le Verizon Center a ensuite twitté que c’était maintenu et tout est rentré dans l’ordre. Inutile de vous expliquer donc que j’étais SUPER EXCITÉE uhuh. Une fois arrivée là-bas, la première chose qui m’a surprise, c’est la configuration de la salle. Le parterre était divisé en deux : une moitié assise et une moitié debout. La deuxième, c’est que le pit était à moitié vide pendant le concert et que les gens était trèèèèèès calmes. Ils ont pratiquement pas pogoté et ça bougeait même pas des masses. 😯 C’était frustrant..
Mais bon, venons-en au point essentiel.
Au passage, checkez comme j’était contente avec mon tout nouveau t-shirt qui dit « MAR 13 – Washington, District of Columbia » dans le dos ehehe
La soirée a commencé avec Against Me! Je peux pas dire qu’ils étaient pas bons, mais j’ai du mal a rentrer dans leurs morceaux. Mais en première partie ça passait bien. Ensuite, Bohemian Rhapsody a commencé et on a tous su tout d’un coup que c’était bon, on était dedans. A suivi Blitzkrieg Bop, où Drunk Bunny (le lapin bourré uhuh) est venu danser sur scène ❤😂. Plus qu’une chanson à attendre, la BO du Bon, la Brute et le Truand. Et ensuite… C’était indescriptible, fou, génial, je sais même pas. Billie Joe, Mike et Tré sont arrivés sur scène, entamant Know Your Enemy, et à partir de ce moment, j’ai sérieusement pleuré pendant presque toute la première heure. Le set était juste incroyable : les meilleurs morceaux de Revolution Radio et un mélange parfait d’American Idiot et de chansons des 90’s. L’énergie du groupe était folle, ils dégagent tellement de bonheur 😱 ! Billie Joe était constamment en train de chercher le regard du public, il a invité des gens à venir chanter ou jouer de la guitare avec lui, lancé des t-shirts dans la foule avec son pistolet à t-shirts et il n’arrête pas une seconde de sourire.
Mais ce que je retiens plus que tout d’hier soir, c’est combien le groupe, et spécialement Billie Joe, m’inspirent. Green Day, c’est le premier groupe de rock que j’ai écouté par moi-même. Je me souviens encore de la première fois que j’ai vu le clip de Boulevard Of Broken Dreams sur MTV, en 2004. C’est un des groupes qui m’a donné envie d’apprendre à jouer de la guitare et le premier morceau que j’aie joué en public, c’était un des leurs. Mais maintenant que j’ai grandi, et que mon niveau d’anglais est meilleur, j’ai réalisé combien Billie Joe est inspirant en tant que compositeur. J’ai compris des subtilités dans ses paroles que j’avais complètement zappés auparavant et j’étais là genre « OMG c’est tellement puissant ! ». Les petits discours qu’il a tenus hier concernant la situation aux US et dans le monde étaient juste géniaux. Alors, bien sûr, au milieu d’American Idiot, il nous a crié un bon « Fuck Donald Trump » mais à part ça, il a pas passé son temps à critiquer le système, Trump, les Républicains ou je sais pas quoi. Ca avait même pas l’air d’être une protestation mais juste des mots positifs qui, associés aux paroles, te font réfléchir à ce que tu peux faire pour changer les choses, parce qu’on peut choisir. Pour moi, ces 2h30 de show ont plus d’impact que toutes les manifs que j’ai vues ici depuis septembre.
Tout simplement, je suis rappelée de l’importance qu’a Green Day pour moi ❤
